Project Detail

Thailand Pollution Control Department - Environmental Pollution Control GIS Applications Conceptual Framework and Case Example Workbook

This project involved review of the Thailand PCDs GIS user needs analysis, and the development of a conceptual framework and strategic plan for the implementation of an integrated suite of GIS applications for environmental monitoring, regulation, data management, environmental assessment and analysis, contingency planning and response and other activities. Research was then performed internationally to identify and document a wide variety of existing GIS applications similar to those required by the PCD. This Application Workbook is being used by the PCD to investigate and define their application development priorities. Once identified, these priority applications will be further articulated in the development of detailed specifications and implementation plans.

The project involved working onsite in Bangkok, Thailand for three weeks to discuss requirements and strategic direction with the PCD Director General, staff and technical consultants from the Thailand Environmental Institute (TEI). TEI is the prime contractor on the project. An additional two months was spent researching and documenting similar applications from around the World.
